On Wednesday all five of my daughters spent the day here. It had been a while since we all were together for a day. Elizabeth has three children in school and Susan has five children in school. That fills up their schedules with dentist and doctor appointments. I remember those days very well.

The Eichers Gather to Butcher Beef and New Babies to Celebrate
What a beautiful but cold day it is! The sun is shining so bright. It always lifts your spirits more than on a gloomy day. We have so much to be thankful for. Do we appreciate all the blessings we are given? Life gets so busy, but we still need to take time to thank our Heavenly Father for his many blessings and for sending our dear Savior Jesus Christ.
The Eicher’s Attend Church Services and Enjoy Family Night Fun
It is a foggy Monday morning but the sun is peeking through. It looks like it will be another nice sunny day. We have been having spring-like days with temperatures in the 50s. I’m sure winter isn’t over for us yet, but we will enjoy these days while they last. After all of the cold and snow we have had, it does give a person “Spring fever”!
Lovina Shares Precious Stories and Memories from 20 Years Ago
This column has to be out earlier than usual so with having written a column just a few days ago I decided to do some reminiscing and look through my past columns of over twenty three years. I would have forgotten some of the stories I wrote about the children if I hadn’t written them down. If you can find time to write down cute stories about your children growing up that would be great
The Eichers Enjoy Fun in the Snow and Celebrate Birthdays
We have entered the month of February already. Today is Groundhog Day and it looks like Mr. Groundhog says six more weeks of winter. Either way it seems we get six more weeks or more either way. We have had a real winter so far with cold weather and lots of snow. Maybe if we get it all at once we will have an early spring.
Lovina’s Granddaughter Abigail Pens the Column
This is my granddaughter Abigail writing which makes the 4th generation since my mother Elizabeth Coblentz started penning the column (then called “The Amish Cook”) in 1991.
Hi, this is Abigail Elizabeth. My age is nine. My sisters Allison and Andrea are nice, and Timothy is the only boy. I have three siblings. I have one dog, three horses and two ponies.
Daughter Verena Shares Her Thoughts on Her Disability
Hello readers! This is Verena writing again. This is something I wrote a few days ago. I like to write my thoughts on paper. I don’t share this to get pity; I share this as I know many of you may find this encouraging or many of you may want to understand how muscular dystrophy works.
Lovina’s Diary : A January Day at the Eichers
4:30 a.m. Our alarm rings to awaken us for another day. Another day God granted to us. Are we thankful enough for his many blessings he sends?
I pack my husband Joe’s lunch with last night’s leftovers of vegetable soup and fresh ham that was grilled last night. I also put an apple and cookies in and fill a thermos with coffee. I fill his water jug with ice and water.
Observing Old Christmas/Epiphany and Celebrating Kylie’s First Birthday
It is a nice sunny January morning with the temperature at 30 degrees. My husband Joe, son Benjamin, and son-in-law Daniel Ray all left for work early this morning for work. For Benjamin and Daniel Ray it was the first time after a two-week break for the holidays. Joe was only off Thursday and Friday for the New Year’s Day holidays.
Lovina Shares About Christmas Dinner, Pork Butchering and Much More
Christmas 2025 will be here in a few days already! This year our family will gather on Christmas Day. What a joy it is to me when we can be with our loved ones. Let us remember the reason for the season. Our Savior Jesus Christ was born.
