I am Lovina’s “English” friend Ruth, and since Lovina is busy with wedding preparations this week and recovering next week, I am filling in for her for the next two columns. This past Saturday the tables and benches were set up in the shed for next Friday’s wedding meals. Then the tablecloths, plates, silverware, cups, etc. were placed and are ready for the first meal serving after the morning wedding

The Eicher Family is Busy with Wedding Preparations
It is a nice sunny Sunday afternoon with a pleasant temperature of 75°. It is great porch sitting weather. We attended church services this morning hosted by our neighbors. My cousin Lovina, her husband Pete and some of their families were there. It was good to visit with her again. I was surprised to see her. Their daughter is getting married in July so we both are extra busy in our lives at the moment. I was surprised to hear this is the sixth of her children also getting married
Wedding Season is in Full Swing in the Community
We have entered the month of June. Oh goodness I am actually getting nervous with the wedding of daughter Verena and Daniel Ray being in eighteen days. I have not done much grocery shopping yet. I am still working on my list. It takes a lot of brain work to figure out all the ingredients you need for making over one thousand meals for the wedding day. And of course it does not help being another year older. Haha
Lovina’s Children Write a Tribute for their Mother’s Birthday Part 2
Elizabeth (Husband Timothy), age 30
Happy birthday to you, Mom; the heart and soul of our family! Another year wiser!! 🙂 I like to think we are like the saying goes “like mother like daughter” (because who wouldn’t want to be you!) with similar physical traits and personality. Perhaps I think too highly of myself in that manner. I suppose the little girl in me is still attempting to grow up to be “just like my mom “… strong, wise, and beautiful.
Lovina’s Children Write a Tribute for Their Mother’s Birthday
Verena (Special friend Daniel Ray), age 27
Mom, us children decided to each write a birthday message to you for your 54th birthday, May 22nd. Sitting here, dozens of things pop in my head on what I could write. Your love for us is so meaningful, but I will try to keep it short so I don’t take up too much space in the column. Smile.
Lovina’s Diary for Monday, May 12, 2025
4:15 A.M.
Alarm rings, I pack son Benjamin’s lunch. Benjamin had a long weekend. He went up to Cadillac, Michigan camping with his friend and family Friday morning to Sunday night. They went mushroom hunting but it was too early for the mushrooms in that area yet. We have a meal of mushrooms here that son-in-law Tim found. What a nice expensive gift with the price of mushrooms.
Lovina Loved Meeting Some More of her Readers
This is Monday morning and we have entered the month of May. I need to wash laundry today and so far it doesn’t look too nice outside weatherwise. I am hoping the rain holds off until I get the clothes all dried. Yesterday was a rainy day.
Recipe correction -Asparagus Soup
The Asparagus Soup recipe should have 1 cup of cubed processed cheese (like Velveeta) or 1 cup of cubed colby cheese (or cheese of your choice). It is missing from the ingredient list.
Verena and Daniel are Getting Married
It’s Monday evening and a lovely one at that. The mercury on our thermometer has crept up to eighty degrees. The laundry dried really fast so it didn’t matter that I did other jobs around the house before I started with laundry.
Good Friday Spent with Family
It’s a cool April evening with a temperature of 53 degrees. The wind makes it feel colder than that though. I washed clothes and they dried on the lines. It was a challenge trying to keep the clothes on the lines with the wind
